1. PS1: I’m Stressed! What Stress Testing Can Tell You About an Application

While most testers are familiar with load testing an application, load testing is a subset of a more general practice known as stress testing. Stress testing involves evaluating the quality and response characteristics of an application that occur under strain from multiple users or from other characteristics of the system. This session looks at the types of stress you can put on an application, and what the ability to respond to that stress tells you about its quality and robustness. It includes demonstrations of different types of stress and application behavior as a result of that stress. It concludes with ways that you can stress an application and why you might want to do so based on its intended use.
